Hunt Lease Liability Insurance
Like many landowners, you may choose to lease land to hunting clubs or individual hunters as a source of revenue. Allowing hunting or other leisure activities on your land presents the opportunity for accidents and, unfortunately, the potential for litigation. Without Hunt Lease Liability Insurance, a landowner could be wholly responsible for the financial damages that an accident could cause. Damages may include things like the medical treatment costs from an injury to a member or guest, as well as the costs for expenses related to preparing a legal defense.
Hunt Lease Liability coverage provides protection from the burden of such expenses.
Hunt Lease Liability coverage
is available in two categories:
Limited or Broad Form
Limited Form —
Provides liability coverage for the
landowner and hunt clubs who lease land, for the hunting club’s
operations on the designated leased premises including hunting
activities and club meetings. No coverage applies for land owned by
the insured landowner that is not leased to insured clubs.
Provides liability coverage for the landowner and hunt clubs
leasing land regardless of the designated premises or specified
activities. Coverage is not restricted to just the club premises.
Whether it’s attending a shooting competition at another club, participating in a fundraiser, or other normal club activities that occur
away from the club premises, both the landowner and clubs are
Broad form also provides liability coverage
for vacant land - that is, land not fenced nor used for any commercial
or agricultural purpose. Vacant land coverage can be purchased
separately, for the landowner who does not lease land yet still wants
the peace of mind knowing they are covered in the event of an
accident on their property.
Each Entity Receives Its Own Limit
Whether a landowner or the hunt club, each entity receives their own
policy with their own $1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate limit of liability. The policy is written in the
name of the landowner, and for landowners with clubs leasing land,
those clubs are listed as additional named insureds, giving the club
full coverage under the policy.
